Bovis wins £40m Edinburgh office job

Bovis Lend Lease has cashed in on the continued building boom in Scotland to emerge as preferred bidder for a £40m office deal in Edinburgh.

The news means the game is up for two other rivals chasing the job, HBG and Balfour Beatty.

The scheme involves building three new office complexes for financial heavyweight Scottish Widows alongside its existing building on the corner of Semple Street and Fountainbridge.

Work on site is due to start in earnest next month, with completion expected in just under two years.

The total space available will be around 17,000m2 in the three six-storey complexes and the task will include estate roads, landscaping and sewers.

The site was originally home to the Edinburgh Meat Market before becoming a nightclub.
