Balfour Beatty UK rail division to be reorganised.

Balfour Beatty has announced a reorganisation of its rail division. Staff were told that the new divisional structure will be more streamlined.

An internal statement by Balfour said: “The pace of change in the UK rail market has accelerated. Network Rail’s demands on its supply chain in respect of delivery, customer focus and costs have intensified, as have their expectations in terms of speed of response and one-the-spot accountability.”

The major changes at Balfour are:

Balfour added: “A number of major opportunities on the main line rail system and in mass transit urban rail systems are developing. It is vital that we are in the best position to respond before - and when - they reach the market.”
