Case plans four-machine re-entry to UK ADT market

Case is poised to re-enter the UK ADT market and displayed a 40t (US) machine on its stand at Hillhead.

The company will market a range of four machines with payloads ranging from 27t (US) to 40t (US).

The re-badged Astra-built machines were first seen four years ago and have been on sale in the US for some time, but reluctance by UK dealers has prevented the ADTs from being marketed here. Only five or six of Case's 14 UK dealers are expected to sell the machines.

Case's European marketing director Kevan Dowse said the company wants to offer its customers a full line of equipment and ADTs were a vital part of the range.

The machines come with Iveco engines and ZF drivelines and have twin under-floor tipping rams. "This gives improved stability as we can use a wider chassis," said product specialist Jim Fox. All the machines come with nitrogen-filled front suspension, although only the top-weight machine has wet brakes.

In sharp contrast to many established players, Case said currently it can deliver a 330B machine within a month.

The company also exhibited a short-tailswing 220 fitted with a dedicated Kocurek three-piece demolition boom. The 220 belongs to Lancashire-based specialist contractor PGC, which also hires out the machines both with and without operators.
