Liebherr exhibited a demountable concrete mixer in the colours of Ennstone Johnston at Hillhead. The customer specified the demountable 8m3 (set) HTM 804P hydraulic mixer drum on an eight-wheel Daf chassis.
When not being used for mixing duties, the body can be demounted in around five minutes using a Dautel swap body system and replaced by a Wilcox tipping body. The system uses locking lugs welded to the chassis, which engage with identical hooks on the body and minimise the need for a substantial sub-frame. Hydraulic rams slide the body forwards to engage the hooks (there is a manual lock) or backward to disengage, while other rams lift the body clear of the chassis allowing landing legs to be fitted and the truck to be driven out.
On the demo plot, an L 586 2Plus2 wheel loader was put through its paces. The company said in tests the 31t machine was 32% more productive than two competitors and used 10 litres per hour less fuel than one machine and seven litres per hour less than the second.
