Three shortlisted for Barnsley's £300m BSF deal

Three bidders have made the shortlist for Barnsley Council's £300m Building Schools for the Future (BSF) scheme. They are: BAM PPP; Barnsley Partnership for Learning, led by Laing O'Rourke; and Skanska.

Eleven new schools will be built over three phases, with five secondary schools in the first phase, a secondary school and two special schools in the second phase and three secondary schools in the third phase.

Barnsley's plans to replace its existing secondary and special schools with state-of-the-art 'Advanced Learning Centres' under BSF was recently praised in a 4Ps report, which said the programme "shows all the indications of a well-run and successfully managed programme of schools transformation".
