Following Cemex's announcement that it will increase cement capacity by 20% next year, Castle Cement has followed suit and said that it is also to increase production.
The news comes as cement shortages continue to bite in some areas of the country, with supplies still under tight control.
Mike Eberlin, Castle Cement managing director, said that the company can meet the challenge without relying on imports.
"We are increasing material production and in 2008 will have increased capacity by 10% over 2006," he said. "We are in a strong position to respond to changing needs."
