Rob Smith has led a management buy-out of Alpha Construction, the civil engineering group based in Hilton, Derbyshire, where turnover in the current year is expected to run to £14m.
The company, formed in 1982, was acquired in 1995 by Jeff Green, the outgoing managing director.
Smith, currently QS director, has become the new MD.
Alpha operates throughout England. Its operations include electrical work and specialist foundations. Contracts range in value from £250,000 to £5m, with the average running to a figure of about £1m.
