Lovell secures £40m Somerset housing project

By Brian Warner

Lovell has beaten Bovis Lend Lease in the final run-in for a £40m housing deal in Somerset.

The job entails knocking down defective prefabricated reinforced concrete homes for the Somer Community Housing Trust and building 320 new houses for local residents.

The scheme focuses on five areas of the Trust's estates in Bath and Keynsham.

Work on site is expected to start next spring and run for up to 42 months.

Bellway, Leadbitter, Kier and Westbury Partnerships also pitched for the project but did not make it through to the second stage of the tender process.
