Partnerships UK (PUK) finance director David Goldstone will play a key role in controlling costs on the London 2012 Olympics as the newly appointed Government Olympic Executive's (GOE) finance and programme director.
Partnerships UK chief executive James Stewart said Goldstone had made an enormous contribution to PUK, adding that his experience in launching NHS LIFT and BSF programmes was "a testament to his suitability in this key role in the management of the Olympic programme".
Goldstone, who will take up his post in September, said: "I look ahead with excitement to working at GOE and helping ensure the Games are delivered on time and on budget."
An Olympics source said Goldstone's role is "pivotal" and he would help keep the programme on track by liaising with all relevant bodies.
