Bouygues looks set to be preferred bidder on Westminster City Council’s £152m Building Schools for the Future (BSF) scheme after knocking rival Wates out of the ring.
However Westminster stopped short of announcing Bouygues as the winner. Instead the consortium will face further consultations with parents, pupils, staff and local residents.
Westminster councillor Sarah Richardson confirmed Bouygues was in the final stages. She added: “Schools and council have asked them to provide clarification and more details on some parts of their proposals."
Mikel Berrebi, Bouygues UK’s commercial director said: "We know that we have a lot of hard work to do in the next few weeks to clarify the issues where there are concerns from schools and the council.
"We are very confident we can resolve all outstanding issues and look forward to convincing the Westminster BSF project that we can be confirmed as preferred bidder later this month."
Westminster’s BSF scheme will see the construction of one new school and the refurbishment of a further eight schools.
This will be the second BSF win for Bouygues which clinched the £100m Waltham Forest BSF scheme last October. Bouygues is also shortlisted for the £167m Hackney and the £180m Tower Hamlets BSF schemes, revealing a BSF game plan centred on London boroughs.
