A Skanska/GrantRail team has edged ahead of its only remaining rival, Hochtief, to take the main construction deal on part of a £238m project to bring the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) into the heart of the proposed 2012 Olympics Park in London.
A source said: "Earlier on in the contest, it looked as though Hochtief was on track with the cheapest price. But things change and maybe Skanska's win earlier this year on DLR's package 8 scheme played a crucial role - continuity is important."
The construction contract, known as package 6, is worth £67m and centres on Stratford International station and includes new station construction, station upgrades and track conversion.
