German steel giant to enter UK market

By James Stagg

A new company has been created by Germany's largest steel producer to sell construction systems in the UK and take advantage of the construction activity generated by the 2012 Olympics.

ThyssenKrupp Building Systems will sell the entire product range of ThyssenKrupp Bausysteme, comprising trapezoidal profiles and sandwich elements for roofing and walls.

Managing director Iain McQuire said that the new company had been established in response to strong growth of the market for steel construction elements in the UK.

He added: "With London hosting the 2012 Olympic Games, activity in all areas of commercial building is set to expand significantly over the next few years and this new company will put us in an excellent position to capitalize on that growth."
