Aggregate Industries buys Bucbricks

Aggregate Industries has acquired Bucbricks, a family-owned firm based in Colchester, Essex, which has extended the range of its specialist sand business.

Bucbricks currently produces more than 20 grades of sand. Aggregate Industries expects it to complement its existing specialist sand business Garside Sands, based in Leighton Buzzard, expanding its geographical coverage to the booming South East region.

Bucbricks managing director Lynda Thompson, who is also chairman of the Quarry Products Association, will stay on in a consultancy role to support the development of Martells Quarry.

Aggregate Industries chief executive Bill Bolsover commented: "Bucbricks will dovetail perfectly with our Garside Sands business and I am very pleased that this company, which I have admired for some time, is now part of Aggregate Industries."
