Donaldson & Sons unveils 193% profit leap

Fife-based timber firm James Donaldson & Sons has posted a 193% increase in profit for the group, with turnover up 12.8% from £66.9m to £75.5m.

Pre-tax profit at the family-run firm, which was founded in 1860, was £3.1m.

The business, which has registered its 11th successive year of growth, is split into three core areas: sawmilling company James Donaldson; Timber roof truss manufacturer Donaldson; Timber Engineering and timber merchant MGM.

Chairman and chief executive Neil Donaldson said: "We have always been an ambitious company and our £1m investment in new facilities and machinery demonstrates our commitment to driving forward growth.

"We can see incredible potential for the group in England, particularly through Donaldson Timber Engineering, and we are considering a number of acquisitions to help us realise our potential at UK level".
