Fleming offsite system wins £7.5m deal

Fleming Developments has won a £7.5m contract with Portsmouth Housing Association to deliver a nine-storey apartment scheme using its offsite modular steel system.

This is the second time the technology has been used in the UK. It will help deliver an EcoHomes 'very good' rating for the 72 one- and two-bedroom apartment development.

Specification of the modular steel system will shave nine weeks off the build programme, originally estimated as at least 55 weeks using alternative methods, enabling Fleming Developments to meet the handover deadline of March 2008.

Iain Thayne, chief executive of Fleming Developments, said: "This is another step for us in moving our stated aim of becoming the leading offsite manufacturing developer."
