Osborne bags £40m office scheme in East London

By Brian Warner

Geoffrey Osborne has scooped a £40m public-sector deal in London's East End.

The Hackney Council scheme, at Hillman Street, goes under the banner of the Service First Centre.

The centrepiece of the design and construct project will be a new 15,000m2 office building and 'one-stop shop', with a call centre on the ground floor and a plant room on the fourth floor.

The aim of the new building is to improve public access to the council's services and to upgrade facilities for council employees.

The council says the Service First Initiative will also help deliver a higher performing and more efficient local authority.

Work on site is due to kick off next month, with the new building expected to be delivered within 97 weeks.

Gardiner & Theobald is project managing the scheme.
