The post-Euro 4 drought of truck registrations appears to be coming to an end, with August sales in the 6t and above sector climbing to within 3% of last year’s figure to finish on 2,846, although the year-to-date figures are still 25% behind at 25,147. Van sales were also 3% shy of last year’s total to finish at 15,283 units although year-to-date registrations are up by 2.2% at 211,766.
The top two truck manufacturers Daf and Mercedes Benz both saw their market shares drop to 20.2% and 13.9% respectively (with sales of 703 and 485 units in the month). Ford also saw its dominance of the sub 3.5t market slipping, with 3,600 sales in August giving it a 23.5% share, although this is still well ahead of second placed Vauxhall, with 2,700 registrations.
