Three front-runners for the £250m Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) scheme in Greater Manchester have emerged. The trio of shortlisted bidders are: Inspired Spaces (Carillion) Land Securities Trillium (Community Partnerships for Tameside) and Environments for Learning (Interserve).
A preferred bidder will be chosen in the spring. The first phase will involve rebuilding 10 secondary schools. The £100m second phase will see another five schools remodelled or rebuilt.
Carillion also appears on Durham County Council's recently chosen long list for its £400m BSF scheme. The bidders are: AURA (Sir Robert McAlpine/ Robertson Capital Projects/Parsons Brinckerhoff)) Carillion Catalyst (Bovis Lend Lease) NYOP, a consortium led by Icelandic property firm Nysir and Spirel (Amec). A shortlist will be announced next month.
The first phase of Durham's BSF scheme will involve all of the schools in Easington District and Sedgefield Community College and will cost around £100m.
