Gehl is offering its skidsteers fitted with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) as required by the London Best Practice Guide, and has introduced a VTS track conversion.
Replacing the original silencer with a Fischer-IMZ DPF cuts particulate emissions by up to 97% and reduces the noise level by 15dB(A). A catalyst added to the fuel allows the unit to be self-regenerating and able to cope with the sulphur in red diesel.
Gehl will offer the DPFs on machines from the 4640 upwards (both new and retrofit) with an on-cost of around £3,800. Regional sales manager Graham Evans said the warranty will continue to cover the whole machine, including the engine.
Converting a skidsteer to a track loader by fitting a VTS track system takes around two hours. By removing the wheels, the system gives a greater track length on the ground and there is room to incorporate suspension.
A VTS system costs £5,000 to £8,000 (depending on the machine), but Evans said with typical intermittent use, one system can outlast two or three machines.
