Following successful regional trials, Tarmac Topblock is to roll its waste take-back scheme out nationwide.
The scheme will be available to those who place initial orders of at least 2,000m of the company's aggregate or aircrete blocks.
Blocks will be delivered to site along with bags supplied by Hippowaste. Once 10 or more bags are full of broken, damaged or unused blocks, they will be collected and returned to the nearest Tarmac recycling plant.
Alistair Whittaker, commercial director at Tarmac Topbloc, said: "The initiative will enable our customers to achieve cost-saving benefits by not disposing of block waste as landfill, while ensuring that discarded block material is recovered responsibly and reused in new applications."
Tarmac is also in talks with Biffa Waste and Recycling to look at the possibility of introducing a roll-on skip option.
