BASF launches Smart new mix

BASF has developed a ‘Smart Dynamic Construction’ concept that enhances the performance of S4 and S5 ready mix concretes.

The company says that the new mix combines the benefits of traditionally vibrated with self-compacting concrete, making it simpler to use on site.

The mix design contains fewer fines, making the concrete more fluid and permitting installation without subsequent compaction. Furthermore, environmental impact is lessened as the production of fines causes CO2 emissions.

Created by BASF’s Construction Chemicals division, the concrete mix also contains additives that are claimed to allow the right balance between fluidity, passing ability and resistance to segregation – traditionally opposing properties - to be achieved.
