Atlas Copco revamps generators

By Colin Sowman

Atlas Copco has redesigned its QAS range of generator sets, added smaller units to the bottom of the range, and finished revamping its breakers.

In redesigning the larger units, the physical size of the enclosure has been reduced by as much as 40%. Despite these smaller canopies, the machines deliver the same power in ambient temperatures of up to 45°C.

At the lower end of the QAS range, the company has added four smaller QAS models specifically aimed at the rental market. The QAS14, QAS20, QAS30 and QAS40 are powered by electronically controlled Stage IIIa Kubota diesel engines.

Atlas Copco is also launching eight redesigned heavy-duty breakers. The TEX270PS and TEX280PE were launched earlier this year and have now been joined by the rest of the range.

PS models are silenced, for urban use, while the PE models are said to be vibration reduced with a new handle design to greatly reduce hand/arm vibration, in all three axes of movement.

Atlas Copco claims that the vibration reduced breakers can be used for up to eight hours without exceeding the recommended vibration exposure.
