New HQ for Baggeridge after takeover

By James Stagg

Baggeridge Brick's management has moved into Wienerberger's head office in Cheadle, Greater Manchester, as part of a restructuring following its takeover.

Wienerberger, the world's largest brick manufacturer, snapped up Baggeridge, previously located in Sedgeley, West Midlands, last year in a move that made it the number three player in the UK brick sector.

Alan Baxter has been appointed as the chief operating officer of the new UK operation. He is the former chief executive of Baggeridge.

With 14 manufacturing sites and two distribution depots around the UK, Wienerberger says it has become a "local supplier on a national scale".

The combined product range offers facing bricks, blue bricks and class B engineering bricks as well as "an almost unlimited range of special- shaped bricks".

Also within the Wienerberger portfolio is a range of pavers, clay roof tiles under the Koramic brand, plus two cladding systems - Corium and Argeton.

Baxter said: "We are ready to move forward as one company. Wienerberger and Baggeridge complement each other perfectly."
