Portakabin introduces biometric security accessories

By James Stagg

Modular building supplier Portakabin has introduced a range of security accessories that include biometric technology that verifies a person’s identity before allowing access.

Working alongside a biometric interpretation technology company, Portakabin can offer relocatable security options that include fingerprint, hand, facial and iris recognition.

The equipment can be used to monitor and audit personnel entering construction sites, as well as providing secure environments within hospitals, schools, nurseries and airports.

Recognising the potential for errors, the company says it will offer support long after the initial order.

A Portakabin spokesman said: “This revolutionary development will allow customers to control and monitor access to their high-quality Portakabin building.

“Biometric technologies use unique human physiological traits such as fingerprints or irises to provide automatic proof of an individual’s identity. These recognition systems replace conventional forms of identification such as signature, keys and passwords, which can easily be compromised.”
