RSK acquires Building Sciences to boost carbon management business

By James Stagg

RSK has ramped up its carbon management business with the acquisition of building envelope consultancy and testing company, Building Sciences.

The move consolidates the company’s position as the UK’s largest privately owned environmental consultants. It also claims to be the fastest growing company of its kind, with 750 staff across 34 offices worldwide.

Last year six acquisitions fuelled a 50% increase in turnover.

Stuart Borland, managing director of Building Sciences - which offers consultancy and testing in relation to the building fabric performance of heat, air moisture and acoustics - said the acquisition by RSK would help the company develop and attract a wider client base.

Building Sciences already serves major names such as British Land, Asda, HBG Construction and Bovis Lend Lease.

RSK group chairman Dr. Alan Ryder said: “This is a fantastic addition to the RSK Group; legislation and consumers are demanding greater efficiency in terms of building design and RSK and Building Sciences want to be at the forefront of making that a reality.”

Building Services will work with RSK Carbon Management to offer environmental impact developments for every stage of the project cycle.
