Allerton Group, the specialist steel-fabricator based in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, has a new owner.
David Cunningham has become the majority shareholder. He now owns 84% of the company.
Allerton was originally established in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, more than 60 years ago. Based on a 1.1ha site it offers a range of design, fabrication and welding services.
There are close on 100 employees.
With a 55t lifting capability, Allerton can fabricate ‘to any size that is transportable’.
The group’s Allerton Bridges division was formed in 2001 to build on 20 years bridgework experience. It has approval for rail related works.
The group’s latest annual turnover is £7.3m. It anticipates a lift to £10m by 2010.
Cunningham, said: “I have been a shareholder in Allerton for seven years. During that time I have seen the company treble its size. We have made a large investment in staff and equipment in recent months.”
Cunningham also owns Glencairn, a corporate financier and tax consultancy group.
