There is still no date set for a revised Construction Act, minister Stephen Timms MP has told a panel of MPs.
Acting as a witness for the evidence session of the BERR Committee inquiry into construction, Timms said: "I’m at the moment in discussion with the Leader of the House about a legislative opportunity to take that forward."
The government has recently completed a second consultation on the Act looking at changing payment practices within the industry, and is now looking at the responses it has received, Timms said.
He said that clients, contractors, and subcontractors needed to find a "consensual way forward" before making amendments to the 1996 Act, which was why the process has taken nearly four years.
