Tarmac has continued its success with major contracts in the Midlands by winning a two-year maintenance and repair deal with Birmingham City Council worth around £11m.
The agreement follows contract wins in the neighbouring local authorities of Coventry, Wolverhampton, Warwickshire, Walsall and Sandwell, as well as the Highways Agency's Midlands Framework 3.
Its National Contracting division will use recycled materials whenever possible, facilitated by its recycling plant in Birmingham, combined with new product developments.
Paul Fleetham, contracting director at Tarmac National Contracting, said: "We've had a good run. The Midlands gives us a good platform for our sustainability agenda as we have a large recycling facility in the area. It also means we haven't got the haulage or distribution costs others might have."
The contract will run until December 2009.
