Wates tie-up gives A-Plant its biggest-ever supply contract

By Colin Sowman

A-Plant has won its largest single supply contract ever - a three-year deal with the Wates Group potentially worth more than £16m.

The tendering process took 14 months and examined areas of operation including safety, costs, service and corporate culture.

Sat Dhaiwal, chief executive officer of A-Plant, said: "The ability to supply plant and tools from single sites was a major reason for A-Plant winning the Wates contract as none of our competitors could do this. Our high-quality operating management systems enabled us to work and report on strict Key Performance Indicators identified by the customer."

Having won the contract, A-Plant will be investing more than £10m in new plant and tools for Wates.

Wates is privately-owned with a national network of delivery centres and more than 2,000 employees. It also has an excellent safety record, winning RoSPA and British Safety Council awards for occupational safety in the past five years.
