A construction worker is being treated for life-threatening burns after drilling through an electricity cable in the west end of London today.
The worker suffered serious injuries in the blast near Oxford Circus in Hanover Street which led to a power cut.
Shops were evacuated after witnesses heard a loud explosion and saw smoke in the busy part of the capital.
A cordon has been put in place between Hanover Street and Regent Street but power has been restored to the area.
