Cemex has announced the appointment of Gonzalo Galindo as UK president, replacing Ignacio Oritz, who will take up the role of president of the Southern Europe and Middle East region.
Galindo comes to the UK from Madrid, where he was vice president of strategic planning and integrated functions coordinator for Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia.
In the UK he will be responsible for a business that generates over £1bn in annual sales with a workforce of 5,000 people across 50 locations. The company offers aggregates, cement, ready-mixed concrete, asphalt and concrete products.
Galindo said he was confident that Cemex would deliver improvements across all its business sectors, despite the UK economy slowing and construction growth looking sluggish.
