The bill for repairs after a massive fire at Camden Market in London could run into millions of pounds, according to the Association of British Insurers.

Meanwhile engineers for Camden Market Holdings, which owns Camden Lock Market, will perform a full structural survey and assess what work needs to be done when it is safe to enter the site, the company said.

But there was already speculation that the Hawley Arms pub, made famous as the favourite haunt of singer Amy Winehouse, may have to be demolished.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: "We are concerned about the structural safety of all of the buildings that have been damaged and the risk of collapse, and that includes the Hawley Arms."

Around 450 people were evacuated from their homes as the fire took hold on Saturday evening, but there were no injuries.
