After a nine week delay, the collapsed crane in Forest Hill in South London is about to be dismantled and moved to the Health and Safety Executive’s laboratory in Buxton for thorough examination.
The delay was caused by the need for five parties to agree the method of dismantling the crane and, in the case of the laboratory, preserve any clues to the cause of the accident.
Nobody was hurt when jib of the Raimondi LR60 tower crane collapsed on a Deco Design & Build site Forest Hill, at around 10am on 11 December 2007.
The site is on Bird in Hand Passage, which will be blocked by a mobile crane while the tower crane is dismantled.
