Reinforcement manufacturers are increasing prices by £100 a tonne as a result of increased global demand and high prices for scrap metal.
The hikes follow the announcement by Corus that it is raising structural steel prices by £60/t.
“The range of external price pressures and tightening of the UK market have contributed to the price increase”, explained Graham Mackenzie, Chairman of the British Association of Reinforcement.
“Despite the price increase rebar and reinforced concrete remains competitively priced.”
