May Gurney clinches £20m rail framework

By Neil Gerrard

May Gurney has won a £20m framework job with Network Rail to replace, refurbish and maintain its operaional property.

The deal follows on from a previous contract between the contractor and Network Rail for similar services in a different geographical area.

The new contract will cover a different region, following the rail maintenance company's decision to consolidate its property mainteanance business into three areas.

The work will involve renewal at railway stations - the repair, refurbishment and remodelling of buidings, platforms, foot-bridges, lighting, car parks and related infrastructure - and Netowrk Rail's commercial property and depot buildings.

In a statement, May Gurney added that trading was in line with expectations, while its forward orderbook, including frameworks, stands at over £1bn.
