Rok background
Since 2000, Rok has grown from a regional contractor in the south west with a turnover under £100m, into a major national construction company.
The rapid growth of Rok has been driven by charismatic chief executive Garvis Snook (pictured), who has styled Rok as 'the nation's local builder'.
Snook has overseen Rok's steady acquisition of a number of regional construction companies. Recent buys include:
- Pitkerro, in January 2008
- Avonside Services, in October 2007
- Harrison Construction, in September 2007
- Sol Construction, in May 2007
- EMB Services, in February 2007
- Tulloch Construction, in December 2006
Rok was positioned 27th in the 2007 Contract Journal Construction Top 100, and 9th in the 2007 CJ50 league table, which measures forward order books of construction companies.
Rok now employs over 5,000 people in a variety of construction markets, and in February 2008 announced record profits of £31m on a record turnover of £950m.
