GB Building Solutions has won a £13.5million partnering contract from Staffordshire Housing Association to build its new HQ and a 99 unit extra-care facility in Stoke-on-Trent.
GB Building Solutions will be lead designer during the partnering timetable for detailed design, reverting to main contractor for the construction phase. The contract may then be expanded to include additional affordable housing.
The buildings will be built on the site of a recently demolished former pottery, called Bilton Works, and will cover an area of 14,000 square metres. The extra-care units will all be two bedrooms with 50 being for shared ownership.
Martin Smout, Chairman and Chief Executive of GB Building Solutions, said: “This will be an important building for Staffordshire Housing Association as it will form its new head office as well as providing some much-needed extra-care accommodation.
“Staffordshire Housing Association puts a great focus on collaboration in order to develop the best possible building within the budget available; this fits exactly with GB Building Solutions ethos of working in partnership with our customers to produce the best solution in every circumstance.”
Work will begin on site in September and will last for 78 weeks with an expected completion date of March 2010.
