Caledonian Building Systems, the modular construction company, has bought Modular UK as part of its expansion plans.
Last year was a record for Caledonian as turnover jumped by more than 50% to £140m.
Modular UK will add a further £12m to that figure as well as broadening Caledonian’s sectors of operation.
Dave Turnbull, managing director at Caledonian, said that Modular will retain its brand identity and its customers.
The combination will offer offsite construction capability to clients in:
Caledonian is the UK subsidiary of Michigan-based Champion Enterprises which has 35 manufacturing facilities in USA, Canada and the UK.
Caledonian’s site at Newark, Nottinghamshire, specialises in steel-framed modular construction of prisons, military accommodation buildings, hotels and residential buildings.
Modular UK is based in Hutton Brunswick, East Yorkshire. It provides temporary and permanent units mainly for the office, health and education markets.
