Two construction workers killed in US crane collapse

Two construction workers were killed and four people injured when a crane collapsed and smashed into a home in Miami yesterday.

The crane was working on the construction of a 40-plus storey apartment building and smashed into a home, used in the film Something About Mary, which was being used as an office by the contractor.

One of those killed died at the scene and the other at hospital. The injured people remain in a serious condition.

Police said it was unclear at this stage how the crane fell.

The accident comes just 10 days after a 20-storey crane collapsed at a New York construction site, killing seven people and destroying a town house.
