Bouygues and Wates are the front runners for Luton Borough Council’s £216m Building Schools for the Future scheme, leaving Equitix and a consortium of Apollo and Babcock and Brown in the stalls.
The two shortlisted firms will now battle it out to win the contract to deliver two academies and two secondary schools in the first phase. The second phase plans to include leisure, community, health, office and housing projects.
Wates’s consortium QED includes Wates Construction and Borras Construction, Civica, Operon fm and VT Education and Skills.
Bouygues consortium members are Bouygues UK, Ecovert FM, Barclays Private Equity Cambridge Education and Ramesys.
A preferred bidder is expected to be chosen by the end of the year.
