Edmund Nuttall makes record £590m turnover

Edmund Nuttall made a 3.2% margin last year on a record workload of £590m.

Financial figures for the 12 months to 31 December 2007 show pre-tax profit at £19m (figure in the previous year: £20m).

Nuttall’s margin in 2006 was 3.4% and ran to 5.1% in the year before that.

The forward orderbook at the year-end stood at £640m. A further £200m of orders have been won within the first two months of this year.

Nuttall’s total number of reportable accidents held firm at 0.55 which the company described as “a figure which represents one of the best in the industry”.

Frameworks continue to deliver a substantial portion of turnover. Partners include South West Water, Network Rail and the Highways Agency.

The latest early summary of the group’s figures does not contain any information about the highest paid director. He received pay of £510,000 in the previous year along with £180,000 to add to his pension pot.

Also, Nuttall has not issued any updated figures relating to its pension deficit. At the end of last year the gap had widened to £49m, an increase of £5m, with assets then standing at £140m and liabilities running to £189m.
