By Brian Warner

Edmund Nuttall has successfully concluded two years of negotiations to take a £41m design-and-build waste treatment plant deal in East Anglia.

Work on the greenfield site in Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, is due to kick off this month, with completion due in 87 weeks.

The mechanical and biological plant is part of client Donarbon's PFI arrangement with Cambridgeshire County Council.

The new plant will process 170,000t of waste each year and reduce the amount of waste put into landfill sites by 75%.

Nuttall will construct the plant, with the process work being undertaken by Austrian firm Kelag Umwelt Technik.
