Skanska bags £150m commercial sector job

By Brian Warner

Skanska has scooped a commercial-sector deal in the City of London, weighing in at a hefty £150m.

The deal focuses on the construction of the St Botolphs mixed development on a 0.5ha island site at Aldgate in the heart of the City.

The 14-storey complex will provide around 56,000m2 of office and retail accommodation. The main construction works on site are expected to begin very soon, with completion scheduled for 2010.

The design and build project is to be completed to shell and core specification, with the reception and toilet areas being fully fitted out.

And Skanska’s in-house team will also be tackling M&E works, piling and steel decking. St Botolphs is the fourth scheme Skanska has undertaken for developer Minerva in recent years.

The others are: The Walbrook complex also in the City, 90 High Holborn, and Minerva’s own headquarters in Wigmore Street.
