Workers at the failed Metronet consortium have voted in favour of industrial action in a row over pensions and staff transfers.
The Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union said that a total of 751 of its members voted in favour of a strike.
The move stems from fears that workers will have to join other companies when Transport for London (TfL) takes over Metronet contracts. They are also concerned that they may not receive such favourable deals on pensions.
RMT leader Bob Crow said: "The transfer of these contracts is highly complex, but we need simple guarantees on the security of our members' jobs and their pensions."
