Two Liverpool-based construction security firms look set to be wound up after the Secretary of State for BERR presented petitions for their liquidation in the High Court.
The two companies, CTN Security Services and CTN Retail Security Services, provided manned door guarding and entrance supervision under contract to construction sites.
The Insolvency Service said its clients included several blue chip companies. The petitions are expected to be heard on 28 May.
Private security firms have come under intense scrutiny over the past two years, after Merseyside Police launched 'Operation Seahog' to investigate protection rackets.
There is no indication whether either CTN Security Services or CTN Retail Services were part of the police investigation.
