Birse Civils came out on top at today’s Considerate Constructors awards, scooping 11 nods for projects, including the Most Considerate Site.

The firm left laden with two bronze, three silver and two gold awards, as well as two silvers awarded for projects in conjunction with Leeds and Sheffield City Councils.

Its regeneration project at Beswick in north east Manchester got the gong for Most Considerate Site for successful site management and integration with the existing community.

Also receiving gold gongs at the awards were Edmund Nuttall, Jackson Civil Engineering, Patton Construction and Taylor Woodrow Construction.

Construction Confederation chairman James Wates said the standard of entries had increased over the past 12 months and the difference between some gold and silver winners had been fractions of one point.

“The bar has been raised and will be raised again,” he said.
