Insiders are putting their money on Miller Construction to haul in a £15m education-sector deal in the North West.
The firm looks to have emerged from the pack to become the front-runner for a job to extend the campus at South Trafford College in Altincham, Cheshire.
The news means expulsion for the other four contenders for the scheme - Bowmer & Kirkland, Galliford Try, Morgan Ashurst and Preston-based Eric Wright.
Demolition works are expected to begin on site during the college's summer holiday period.
The main features of the job are a new 8,000m2, three-storey teaching block and an IT complex.
