Costain consortium wins 5-year AMP4 contract extension

The 4D consortium, in which Costain has a 40% share, has won a five-year extension to an AMP4 contract with Southern Water.

The new contract will run from 1 April 2010 until 31 March 2015, although its value will not be known until a forthcoming price review is complete.

The existing five-year contract, which began in 2005, is worth £700m.

Costain chief executive Andrew Wyllie said: "We are delighted to have been awarded the extension. The award is the result of excellent delivery to date by Costain and its partners on the original AMP4 contract.

"We are particularly pleased to be gaining visibility on such an important earnings stream for Costain this early in the contract renewal process."
