ABM revamps UK pre-cast conctrete operations

Dublin-based construction group ABM has re-branded its operations in the UK.

The division is being split between:

  • ABM Precast Solutions
  • ABM Bridge Systems

In total, the two account for around £10m-a-year of the group’s total turnover.

ABM established a presence in the UK in 2006 when it bought Precon, a pre-cast concrete manufacturer.

The Precon name is now being replaced by the two new titles.

ABM Precast Solutions

Manufacturing bespoke pre-cast structural components, at weights up to 100t. Nearest competitors are Tarmac and Macrete (in Northern Ireland)

ABM Bridge Systems

Has the licence for Matiere system of concrete bridging structures. The business will design, manufacture and install buried precast concrete structures such as arches and portal frames.

The technique used will continue to be known as Matiere. It is fairly unique and the only comparable UK rival would be Reinforced Earth Company

ABM also holds the licence for Matiere structures in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland. In these three countries, the company will trade under the single entity of ABM Mosty.
