Harris Commercials, based in Dublin and the UK distributor for Hino trucks, used SED to launch the Hino 300 series of forward control light truck.
Intended for use at 7.5 tonnes, the 300 series offers three wheelbases for use with bodies, tippers or skip lifting gear.
Power comes from a four-litre, 150hp engine with flexible characteristics that produce 397Nm of torque at 1800rpm and full power at 3200rpm. The turbocharged N-series four cylinder engine gets electronic common rail injection, cooled exhaust gas recirculation and a diesel particulate filter, all of which contribute to the Hino 300 series achieving Euro 4 compliance with emissions legislation.
Hydraulic brakes feature on both axles, and leaf spring suspension underpins the vehicle with the help of shock absorbers and a stabiliser.
The design of the truck also allows the cab to tilt forward for easy maintenance.
Operator comfort has not been over-looked: the Hino 300 series specification includes air conditioning, electric windows, auto door locking, air bags and the obligatory range of storage modules expected of operators, including door pockets, cup holders, coat hook – and there’s room for two passengers on full-sized seats.
